Various projects that cpomprises of stormwater management construction to mitigate the contaminated water from depositing the contaminants into our Chesepeaske bay and surrounding water ways. As part of the impacts of new development and redevelopment activities through the implementation of stormwater best management practices (BMPs) has really relief and reduced the destruction of our Bay. These Stormwater BMPs address the impacts of impervious surfaces such as rooftops, paved streets, and parking lots.

In our project areas, impervious surfaces such as pavement and roofs prevent precipitation from naturally soaking into the ground. Instead, water runs rapidly into storm drains, sewer systems and drainage ditches and can cause: Downstream flooding, Stream bank erosion, Increased turbidity (muddiness created by stirred up sediment) from erosion, Habitat destruction, Combined storm and sanitary sewer system overflows, Infrastructure damage, Contaminated streams, rivers and coastal water
